Welcome to Hummersknott and welcome to our new website! Whether you are already a member of our learning community or are visiting us for the first time, we hope you’ll find what you are looking for here.
In finding us “Good” in all inspection areas in 2021, Ofsted, amongst their many positive comments, told us that they thought we were a “happy and inclusive school” and we think you’ll get a sense of exactly what that means in these pages.
Of course we are very proud of our academic standards and you’ll see us celebrating examination success with our students but we also believe that education is about much more than results. Have a look through the website and you’ll see us taking our sport to the highest levels of success and enjoyment, involved in theatrical productions and music making, raising money for causes close to our hearts and immersing ourselves in different cultures, taking trips at home and abroad.
We also pride ourselves on giving our students the widest possible choice of curriculum subjects in order to help them progress towards achieving their career dreams, whether that means going on to one of our excellent local FE providers or to training and employment. You’ll find details of all our subjects and links to those providers.
Beyond the school day, our students can access a further range exciting experiences; whether that be going for gold with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, getting a taste of the military life with the Army Cadet force or making music with a local orchestra. Through Hummersknott Active, the building offers sport, music, theatre, dance and a whole host of other activities, making this place every bit as vibrant during evenings and weekend as it is during the day.
