Year 11 - The Next Stage
Applications for GSK’s Work Experience at Barnard Castle for Year 11 only GCSE students are now open.
The programme will run 12 – 16 July 2021 and the students will need to be available for the whole week.
This programme will be delivered virtually following the success of the A Level sessions in 2020, but we are aiming to keep the sessions delivered as closely as possible to an on-site experience and students will still work in teams to deliver a project and must have access to Microsoft Teams.
During this 4½ day programme, students will take part in various simulated exercises and activities, virtually meet and hear from subject matter experts and learn more about the healthcare industry, GSK and their career options. Students will also receive a Silver Industrial Cadet Award as part of the programme.
There will also be the opportunity to find out about our Apprenticeship Scheme, Direct Entry Graduate Scheme and Future Leader Programmes and take part in CV writing/interview techniques.
There are a limited number of places available and therefore we can’t guarantee that all students who apply will be offered a place if we have a large number of applicants.
We are going to be restricting the applications to local schools in the first instance and therefore there will not be a link to an online application form. Please contact me via the BC Early Talent email below and I will send out a form that you will need to fill in, which will ask questions about career ambitions, motivation, interests etc. I will also need the email of a teacher whom I may contact for a reference, following a review of all applications.
[email protected]
Timings will be approx. 9.00 – 17.00 Monday to Thursday and 9.00 – 12.30 Friday.
Applications close on 6 June 2021 and we will contact teachers if required, w/c 7 June with a view to sending offers of places w/c 14 June, which will allow time to send out the packs required to join in with the experience.
Although we are a Pharmaceutical Company, there are many and varied roles on site for which you do not need to be a scientist and therefore we welcome applications from all students.
